EDF Cattenom

Mr. Daniel BONTEMS, Head of “Operational Efficiency” at EDF, meets the Kross Builder team at the Vivatech 2019 exhibition.

On the stand in partnership with Bouygues Construction, he discovered the horizontal handling tool: an intelligent electric forklift truck. With no training or CACES, the Kross Builder machine enables all journeymen to tow 250 kg without any effort. A French technology patented worldwide that is revolutionising construction sites. It is well known for its positive impact on Accidents at Work (AT) and Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD). Supported by the CRAMIF and CARSAT organizations, it is creating a new turning point in the public works and construction sectors.

Mr. Daniel BONTEMS has directly planned for an application on his sites in the industrial sector. The Kross Builder trolley is tested for two months at the Cattenom nuclear power station. This French power station is the first to present innovations to solve the problems of this type of site.

The industrial site is facing a real problem in terms of handling. All the subcontractors and site operators are handling by hand despite the site’s size of more than one kilometre.

The previous year, the plant had a shuttle solution for the transport of the material. It had to be discontinued for budgetary reasons. It had no handling solution until the use of the Kross Builder electric forklift truck. Thanks to the partnership with the Cattenom power station, Kross Builder solves the problem of small industrial handling. The French company behind this innovation, K-Ryole, is now being approached by several French nuclear power plants. Mr. Daniel BONTEMS participates in the opening of this market by testifying with his positive and conclusive experience.
